William Crosby

William Crosby is a British/Cypriot artist, musician, pedagogue, and agitator based in Cambridge/London, UK.

William’s research and practice explore the (communal) pedagogical possibilities of sound, investigating how knowledge and resistance are sonically mediated, and how these methods can stand as radical acts of co-working and solidarity building in an age of multiple overlapping crises. William is a member of artist-activist duo, (CWxWC), with Dr Cecilia Wee; sound-sedimentology research group, MUD Collective; and is a Wysing Arts Centre Artist.

As a classical/electric guitarist, William has recently released both solo and ensemble music on Aural Terrains, Elektramusic, and Bad Vibrations/Fuzz Club. He collaborates closely with composers, Thanos Chrysakis and David Ryan, on developing, performing, and recording new music for guitar, and is a core member of experimental opera ensemble, OperaApertaUK.

William lectures in music, sound, and media at Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University, and is a researcher within the Media, Arts, and Creative Technologies Research Centre (MACT). He is also a visiting lecturer and doctoral researcher at the Centre for Creative Research in Sound Arts Practice (CRiSAP) at London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. William is a trade union rep at both institutions, and also co-chairs the PGRs for Palestine Working Group.
