Andrew Ciccone & Xu Shaoyang

Andrew Ciccone is a multimedia artist and trash collector from New York. Since migrating to London Andrew has doubled down on his artistic output with deep ventures into live improvisation, paper collage, metalwork, abstract videos and prose. He also runs the Navel-Gazers interview series with recording artists and the No Computers improv event series.

Xu Shaoyang was somehow discovered by Tori Kudo (maher shalal hash baz) in the early 2000s, Xu focuses on the live performance aspect of music, song-writing, arrangement, and re-arrangements by way of improvisation as vocalist and multi-instrumentalist.

Isabel Anders, Manuel Miethe & Benedict Taylor

Isabel O.E. Anders (born in 2001) is a German/Cuban pianist, composer, and improviser based in Berlin. Her intention with improvisation is to conduct a musical dialogue with the other performers, and to let ideas and inspiration from various sources and art forms merge in a non-elitist manner into a timeless form of expression.

Manuel Miethe is a photographer and free improvising saxophonist based in Berlin.

As one of the few saxophonists who have devoted themselves exclusively to the soprano saxophone, he has engaged himself over the past two decades with developing an improvisational language and body of composition for this unique instrument.

Benedict Taylor is a leading figure within contemporary composition, modern string performance and improvised music in the British and European new music world. The central focus of his work is in new composition for live performance, film, theatre, contemporary dance, art installation and electro-acoustic composition. In performance, he predominantly works within improvisation, new composition and 20th/21st century music.

David Ryan, Dominic Lash, William Crosby & Emil Karlsen

David Ryan is a visual artist and musician. He has long been associated with experimental music and improvisation, having performed with many distinguished musicians including Anton Lukoszevieze, John Edwards, Ian Mitchell, Alberto Popolla, John Tilbury, Luca Venitucci, Gianni Trovalusci amongst others.

Dominic Lash is a freely improvising double bassist and electric guitarist who the Free Jazz Collective has called an "exceptional creative musician". He also both writes and performs composed music and, as an academic, researches and writes about film.

William Crosby is a British/Cypriot artist, musician, pedagogue, and agitator based in Cambridge/London, UK.

William's research and practice explore the (communal) pedagogical possibilities of sound, investigating how knowledge and resistance are sonically mediated, and how these methods can stand as radical acts of co-working and solidarity building in an age of multiple overlapping crises. William is a member of artist-activist duo, (CWxWC), with Dr Cecilia Wee; sound-sedimentology research group, MUD Collective; and is a Wysing Arts Centre Artist.

Emil Karlsen is a Norwegian improvising drummer currently based in the UK. Described as "a real force on the UK improvised music scene", he's establishing himself working the span from free improvisation to free jazz. Occupied with the exploring timbral possibilities of the drum kit, he performs with Phil Wachsmann, John Butcher, Phil Durrant and Maggie Nicols to mention some. Apart from being an active performer, he's central in the revitalisation of the historic Bead Records.

Julian Woods & Steve Beresford

Julian Woods is a guitarist, bassist and composer based in London, currently studying a postgraduate degree at the Guildhall School of Music.

Steve Beresford is a British musician who graduated from the University of York.

He has played a variety of instruments, including piano, electronics, trumpet, euphonium, bass guitar and a wide variety of toy instruments, such as the toy piano.

Susanna Ferrar, Tracy Lisk & Jerry Wigens

Susanna Ferrar is a violinist with a special interest in site-specific improvisation. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and one of HT Ferrar’s grandchildren. She undertook her Postgraduate Certificate in Antarctic Studies (PCAS) at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand in 2011-12, and, during this time, saw many of the places first visited and named by the men of "Discovery". She has played her violin in Scott's hut in Antarctica.

Tracy Lisk is a percussionist who mainly performs on drum set, based in Philadelphia PA. Lisk's history as a painter informs the substance of her improvisations which contain references to rhythmic structures while maintaining a fluid, suspended continuity.

Jerry Wigens is a composer and improviser who plays guitar, mandolin and clarinets. He draws much of his inspiration from the natural world and is a keen naturalist and writer. His book Tails for Tethered Heads is a quirky jumble of prose and verse with occasional illustrations. He has been part of Eddie Prevost's workshop in the past and plays with the London Improvisers Orchestra and with Dave Fowler and Ivor Kallin in the improvising electric trio Glowering Figs.

Marcio Mattos & Alex Ward

Marcio Mattos is a much travelled and experienced improviser who can readily adapt and excel in every musical environment both in Double- Bass and Cello. His "success", in this respect, is primarily due to the high level of commitment he makes in every situation faced. His presence can be heard in very many released CD’s and especially in his latest solo recordings: “SOL[os]” (EMANEM 5035)

Alex Ward is a composer, improviser and performing musician (primarily on clarinet and guitar) based in London. He leads various ensembles under the heading of the Item Series to perform his compositions for improvising musicians, and he is a member of many other groups including legendary rock band Pere Ubu.

Phil Minton, Ivor Kallin & Charlotte Keeffe

Phil Minton comes from Torquay in the UK. He played trumpet and sang with the Mike Westbrook Band in the early 60s- then in dance and rock bands in Europe for the later part of the decade. He returned to England in 1971, rejoining Westbrook and was involved in many of his projects until the mid 1980′s.

Ivor Kallin plays viola with the London Improvisers Orchestra, electric violin with Electrio, bass and voice with the Glowering Figs, and hosts a weekly radio show on Resonance FM as Ambrosia Rasputin, and the last time he had his hair cut, it cost 30p.

British musician, trumpeter and flugelhorn player Charlotte Keeffe wears her love for free improvisation, jazz and experimental music on her sleeve. Whether performing regularly as a soloist (Sound Brush), or leading a variety of different ensembles, including her Right Here, Right Now Quartet, she carefully carves out spaces for the free movement of ideas and individual expression.

Clive Bell & Mike Adcock

Clive Bell is a musician and composer specialising in East Asian musics.

Mike Adcock's music embraces both composition and improvisation. He has made numerous solo, duet and band recordings including three with Accordions Go Crazy, Lost for words, Moment of discovery, Sleep it off (with Clive Bell), In the case of darkness, Reduced (with Sylvia Hallett), Accord, Wanderlust and Risky furniture (with Paul Jolly).

Over the Edge

Over The Edge trio consists of Marcello Magliocchi (drums, percussion), Adrian Northover (soprano saxophone), and Domenico Saccente (accordion, piano). The trio, formed in 2025, has completed two concert tours in Italy and will tour the UK in July 2026, where they will be joined by double bass virtuoso John Edwards, who has had a long standing musical relationship with Magliocchi and Northover.

Oliver Heron

Oliver Heron is a pianist, improviser and composer based in London. He originally studied jazz at Guildhall but later gravitated towards experimental music, and studied contemporary composition with Laurence Crane and Bára Gísladóttir.

Jasna Jovićević & Paul Jolly

Jasna Jovićević is a distinguished figure in the Serbian jazz scene, renowned for her versatility as a musician, composer, and artistic researcher. She is a master of multiple instruments, including the saxophone, bass clarinet, flute, and spacedrum. She has a BA in Jazz Saxophone Performance and Teaching from the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. She furthered her studies with an MA in Music Composition from York University in Toronto and culminated in a Ph.D. in Contemporary Arts and Media from Singidunum University in Belgrade, specializing in transdisciplinary studies.

Paul Jolly is a saxophonist, clarinettist and flutist working within the fields of contemporary improvised since 1969, when he joined the iconic People Band with whom he still performs.

Marilza Gouvea, Marcio Mattos & Mark Wastell

Marilza comes from a musical family in Brazil, her father played classical guitar and her grandfather was a maestro and music teacher. From an early age she got involved with music: bossa nova and Brazilian popular music.

Neil Metcalfe, Barry John Edwards & Colin Somervell

Neil Metcalfe (flute), has been active on the London improvising scene since the 70’s.

Born in Chester, Barry John Edwards, also known as Bazmatronics is a musician, composer and improviser based in Wales, U.K. He is a graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in jazz and regular contributor to the improvisational scene in both the U.K and Spain. Barry is known for his music contribution to the Netflix series Spy Ops.

Mike Cooper

A founding member in the 80s of the rebel free improv trio The Recedents ( with Lol Coxhill and Roger Turner) Mike Cooper has been active since the early 60s in a multitude of diverse musical genre. Now in his 80s he returns to London for a few exclusive dates with his DNA ( Digital Nomadic Arts) set up -small portable digital devices for creative music making.

Matt Clark & Khabat Abas

Matt Clark is a guitarist and improviser based in SE London.

His work sidesteps traditional notions of harmony and melody, instead exploring the random and unexpected within improvisation around twelve tones, and the sonic possibilities of unorthodox techniques.

Khabat Abas is a cellist, composer, and interdisciplinary artist from Kurdistan working at the intersection of free improvisation, sound art, and performance. Her practice explores time, space, and memory through an expanded sonic language drawing on everyday sounds, noise, and the physicality of listening.

Tansy Spinks, Mark Wastell, Gus Garside & Adrian Southby

Tansy Spinks is an artist and improviser who has played at tate Britain, the ICA, V&A, Café Oto, I’Klecktik, Hundred Years Gallery and has exhibited widely.

Mark Wastell is a versatile improvising musician who has played a central role in the British improvised music scene for over a quarter of a century.

Gus Garside is concentrating these days on improvised music, free jazz and contemporary music, double bassist plays in several different groupings including his longstanding string trio Arc (with Sylvia Hallett and Danny Kingshill).

Ade Southby is a Brighton based multi-instrumentalist equally at home exploring song form and free improvisation. He is a core member of Brighton's Safehouse Collective and regularly collaborates in the heady free improv scenes of London and Brighton with many players, most frequently in duos with Matt Clark or Mark Wastell. When improvising he favours prepared guitar and alto clarinet. Today he will utilise the former.

Paul Pignon

Paul Pignon was born and grew up in the UK. Began playing jazz at 15. Studied physics at Oxford. While there made first forays into non-idiomatic improvisation (1961). Abandoned Ph.D research at Oxford in favour of music. Moved to Yugoslavia. Cofounder of the Radio Belgrade Electronic Studio. 14 years working with the Synthi 100 there, originally custom built for the Studio. Active as composer of chamber, vocal electronic and improvised music, leading the group I nteraction. In 1986 moved to Sweden, composing and developing computer music software at E MS. Member of FST and Fylkingen (board member). Producer at Fylkingen 1988-1992. Active as composer of electronic and instrumental works, and real-time composer on single reeds, didgeridoo, recorders, WX5, voice, laptop; currently with B OP, SoundQuartet, BONON, 2+ (with Liisa Pentti), The Great Learning Orchestra, and many ad hoc ensembles in Sweden and abroad. π with Virpi Pakhinen and Amit Sen.

Julia Brüssel & Hannah Marshall

Julia Brüssel is a London-based violinist, composer, and home producer originally from Cologne, Germany. She began her musical journey studying classical violin at an early age but soon developed a passion for improvisation. Later, she pursued jazz violin studies in her hometown, where her exposure to a wide range of genres—from various cultures—further shaped her eclectic musical style. Today, she is known for her work across diverse music scenes, particularly in experimental music, avant-garde, electronic music, jazz, high-life, and acoustic pop.

Hannah Marshall makes music and plays the cello in improvised performance, cross-arts collaboration, composition and sound design, she also enjoys making films and drawing.

Phil Wachsmann & David Leahy

Phil Wachsmann is regarded by many as an outstanding improviser of great invention, able to create new approaches within improvised music utilising acoustic and electronic sources.

Double bassist, David Leahy has been an active member of the free improvisation scene ever since his arrival from New Zealand in 1998. He is also an improvising dancer and works at Trinity Laban as a lecturer to both music and dance students. He is particularly interested in spatialized performance practices and has explored and performed alternative approaches to performance with a wide array of improvisers and with larger groups such as; LIO, Oxford Improvisers, the Free Range Orchestra (Canterbury), the Wuppertal improvisers, and Orquesta Foco (Madrid).

Roger Redgate & Kate Ryder

Roger Redgate is a composer, conductor and improviser. He graduated at the Royal College of Music, where he won prizes for composition, violin performance, harmony and counterpoint, studying composition with Edwin Roxburgh and electronic music with Lawrence Casserley.

Pianist and improviser Kate Ryder performs inside, outside (and sometimes under) the piano and on unusual keyboards both great and small. She specialises in prepared piano and extended techniques, collaborating with composers, commissioning new repertoire, performing, recording and giving workshops on these unique instruments. She is a lecturer in performance and composition at Middlesex university.

Viv Corringham & Maggie Nicols

Viv Corringham (voice) is a US based British vocalist and sound artist, who has been described as "a vital force in improvised music since the late 1970s" (Corey Mwamba, BBC Radio 3).

She has been cutting her own distinctive path ranging across free improvisation, Greek Rembetika, soundscapes and spontaneously created songs. Work includes concerts, soundwalks, workshops and installations. She is a certified teacher of Deep Listening, having studied with composer Pauline Oliveros, and holds an MA in Sonic Art from Middlesex University, London.

Maggie Nicols joined London's legendary Spontaneous Music Ensemble in 1968 as a free improvisation vocalist.

She then became active running voice workshops with an involvement in local experimental theatre.

She later joined the group Centipede, led by Keith Tippets and in 1977, with musician/composer Lindsay Cooper, formed the remarkable Feminist Improvising Group.

Pascal Marzan & Annemarie Roelofs

Currently living in London, Pascal Marzan performs on a 10 string microtonal guitar.

After studying classical guitar – mainly devoted to the twentieth century repertoire – and teaching guitar in several music schools in Budapest, Hungary and France, Pascal has dedicated himself to free improvisation and the exploration of microtonal tunings of his instrument. His playing has been influenced by his interest in the folk musics of Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa.

Annemarie Roelofs is a Dutch musician specialising in trombone and violin, recognized for her work in contemporary and improvised music genres.

ORBIT

Conceptually inspired by Saturn and its multitude of independent moons, the project positions music as the gravitational force that binds a constellation of diverse artistic voices. Petra Haller, recognised for using tap dance as a powerful percussive instrument in jazz, is joined by an always changing ensemble of collaborators.

Simian Carbuncle

Simian Carbuncle are a guitar duo exploring the sonic possibilities of unorthodox techniques. Matt Clark and regular collaborator Adrian Southby are two like-minded and exploratory improvisors regularly performing in the improvised music scenes of Brighton and London.

Sam Bailey & Kit Bula

Sam Bailey is a musician, organiser and teacher who brings people together through culture and makes exciting things happen. His expertise covers classical piano, jazz improvisation and free improvisation with a focus on collaborative performances ranging from chamber music and bands to work with dancers, poets, filmmakers, photographers and chefs. Current/recent projects include managing and performing in an award-winning series of adventurous music and combined arts events called Free Range and the year-long site-specific performance project Piano in the Woods.

Kit Bula is a drummer and percussionist renowned across the South East for pioneering the Fray Bentos sound, co-developing freak rock (with The Mystic Shed) and spearheading the burgeoning Bexhill-on-Sea avant-garde scene (as Brothers Bula). He has been playing for almost three quarters of his time on Earth and has recently released a solo-ish album All This Young Chump Wants is Drum. Between the 18th February 2026 and the 18th February 2027 Kit intends to play 25 gigs in 25 different towns in order to celebrate his 25th birthday, if anyone has a musical venue, library, shop or public toilet available for him to play in please send him your address and a date and time and he will do it.

Barbara Mukoda, Stuart Wilding & Pete Robson

Barbara Mukoda chooses to use little to no vibrato across the range of flutes that she plays; Concert Flute, Piccolo and Alto Flute. This tonal choice in her playing has been described as true, authentic and Her.

Barbara's improvisation blends long lyrical lines with short, shrill flutter-tonguing notes to produce a striking sound that is straight from the heart.

Stuart Wilding is an improvising percussionist, playing a mixture of junk percussion, lap harp and cello. He is active in several current collaborations: Ghost Mind, Longstone, Lo-fi Ensemble, Mike Adcock duo, Pete Robson duo, Professori Sognare, Madrona, the Cheltenham Improvisers Orchestra and Chris Cundy’s Speed Hobby. He currently runs the Lo-fi Improvised music Workshops in Camberwell. In the past he has worked in a number of smaller improvising ensembles and with the Flying Down Trio, Hither Green Drone Orchestra and Makeshift. He was also a performer and musician with the Hand in Glove Performance Group.

Pete Robson is an improvising pianist and trumpeter. Trained classically and in brass bands. He was a member of the London Musicians Collective in the 1980s and has followed a path in improvised musics and free jazz ever since. He was a member of The Improvised Music Ensemble in Portsmouth in the 1990s and of the Cheltenham Improvisers Orchestra in the early 2000s.

John Butcher & Benedict Taylor

Born in Brighton and living in London, John Butcher is a saxophonist whose work ranges through improvisation, his own compositions, multitracked pieces and explorations with feedback, unusual acoustics and non-concert locations. He is well known as a solo performer who attempts to engage with a sense of place.

Martin Lau & Jo-Anne Cox

Martin Lau improvises on woodwinds, found objects and electronics, favouring collaboration. He performs under the name Flooded Access and runs the monthly experimental music event Ealing Extranormal.

Jo-anne Cox is a performer/composer, based in London and working across the UK. Her unique work to date spans across electronic, experimental, folk and contemporary classical music. Her natural creativity has led to many musical and cross art form collaborations, including working with Elinor Rowlands at Nottingham Contemporary Gallery. Jo-anne's composition for piano and electric cello, Galwad y Mynydd, was featured on Siwan Rhys' album, Letting the Light In, which reached #10 in the Specialist Classical charts in 2024.

Olga Ksendzovska & Sylvia Hallett

Keyboardist and vocalist, Olga has been playing music since she was five years old. Starting, as most children do, with classical music, her musical life took her through many genres and bands. Genre has never been a focus for Olga’s musical practice, she tends to regard music as a practice of purposefully organized sound rather than sets of rules and traditions.

Sylvia Hallett is a multi-instrumentalist and composer. Her work grew out of the London Musicians Collective, where she played in a trio with Lol Coxhill and Susannah Ferrar, and was a regular contributor on NATO records with British Summer Time Ends.

Sharon Gal, Sue Lynch & Mia Zabelka

Sharon Gal is an interdisciplinary artist, performer & vocalist specialising in free improvisation, experimental participatory large group compositions.

Sue Lynch studied fine art at Coventry College of Art. She currently runs The Horse Improvised Music Club with Adam Bohman and Adrian Northover.

Performs with Adam Bohman, Eddie Prevost, Anna Homler, Richard Sanderson, Steve Noble, Crystabel Riley, Caroline Kraabel, Sharon Gal and N.O.Moore.

Recently performed as part of Tarek Atoui's Reverse Collection at The Tate Modern and performs with the Psychedelic Afro Beat Sudanese band The Scorpios.

Formed, Paradise Yard in 2016-an electro accoustic ensemble, featuring women improvisers, performing at Iklectik, Cafe Oto and The ICA.In 2018, performed at 3 Klange Tag Music &Word Festival, Switzerland with Hildegard Kleeb, at Womad BBC Stage and, Tusk Festival and Guess Who Festival (Utrecht) with The Scorpios. Solo performance at Pied Nu Festival, Le Havre 2019.

Austrian violinist-vocalist Mia Zabelka is considered to be a leading figure in the international scene of electroacoustic music, known for her innovative and boundary-pushing approach to music, incorporating elements of noise, drone and improvisation into her compositions.

Rachel Musson & Olie Brice

A UK-based saxophonist, improviser and composer UK, Rachel Musson has spent over two decades immersed in improvised music, and is now gradually introducing composed elements into her work, drawing on text, field recordings and processing sounds.

Olie Brice is a double bassist, improviser and composer. Raised in London and Jerusalem, he now lives by the sea in Hastings.

Average Dragoons

Average Dragoons are a family improvising band: Ivor Ghikas (11) on trumpet and vocals, Hector Ghikas (17) on guitar and objects, Dusty (the dog - a medium-sized border collie / miniature poodle) on extended barking techniques, Claire Hope on piano and melodica, and Panos Ghikas on viola. They have performed sets at Noisemass Iklectik, The Vortex Christmas Special and Biggin Hall, Dover.

Gwendolyn Kassenaar, Hyelim Kim & Maurizio Ravalico

Award winning visual artist Gwendolyn Kassenaar (b.1973 Amsterdam) works across painting, drawing and performance. A Chelsea College of Art graduate, she investigates the intersection of sound, body and spirituality.

Hyelim Kim is a composer, Korean daegeum flutist, and ethnomusicology researcher, dedicated to connecting cultures through music. She holds a PhD from SOAS, University of London. Hyelim has collaborated with renowned international orchestras such as the Orchestre de Paris and the Orchestre National de Montpellier, and has participated in prominent festivals including the London Jazz Festival and the K-Music Festival.

Italian-born / UK-based percussionist, composer, producer, educator and sound-explorer Maurizio Ravalico is a multifaceted character whose broad span of specialisations and compulsive drive for styles cross-pollination is manifest in genre-defying acts like the trio Fiium Shaarrk, Tamar Osborn’s Collocutor, Phil Dawson’s Xtet and his varied solo projects, as well as a long list of collaborations in fields as diverse as afrobeat, pop, contemporary composition, jazz, improvised music, salsa, electronic experimental music, theatre and contemporary dance.

Jakub Rokita, Tomasz Glazik & Viv Corringham

Jakub Rokita is an audio-visual installation artist, performer and an arts-activist working out of Luton.

Tomek Glazik is a Polish saxophonist, improviser, composer, sound engineer, and producer based in London. Originally from the small town of Cekcyn in western Poland, he has been active on the music scene since 1997. Glazik is known for his dynamic and expressive playing, specializing in high-energy improvised music that bridges free jazz and noise, while also exploring a wide range of electronic music.

Viv Corringham (voice) is a US based British vocalist and sound artist, who has been described as "a vital force in improvised music since the late 1970s" (Corey Mwamba, BBC Radio 3).

Dave Tucker, Alex Ward, Hannah Marshall & Matt Hutchinson

Dave Tucker began performing in the punk movement of the 70's in Manchester, his first release recorded in 1978 with Mellotron. In the 80's he was a member of "The Fall"" touring with them and recording "Slates" as well as various John Peel sessions. After moving to London in the mid – 80's he studied and played with Philipp Wachsmann and with members of the London scene including Dudu Pukwana, Andy Sheppard, Nick Evans, Johnny Dyani & John Stevens.

Hannah Marshall makes music and plays the cello in improvised performance, cross-arts collaboration, composition and sound design, she also enjoys making films and drawing.

mcddavid, Matt Clark, Sylvia Hallett, Charlotte Keeffe, Maria Sappho, Paul Jolly, Tim Fletcher, Armin Sturm, Susanna Ferrar, Ulrike Schöller & Jörg Hufschmidt

Hanover based mcddavid is part of the Mopomoso Team. As an improviser mcddavid developed techniques without touching the instrument. He makes chaos poems and subversive performances with balloons and pipe-cleaners. He has composed two operas involving audience participation for Mopomoso.

Matt Clark is a guitarist and improviser based in SE London.

Maria Sappho is a Puerto Rican American, currently working as an improviser, artist and researcher in the UK. She is a member of the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra (GIO) and founding member of the Noisebringers ensemble (CH/UK). She is a winner of the BBC Radiophophonic Daphne Oram award (2021), Dewar awards (2018) and New Piano Stars Competition (2015). She has worked with a number of large ensembles; International Contemporary Ensemble (US), BBC Scottish symphony orchestra, Australian Art Orchestra, and the Instant Composers Pool (ND).

Paul Jolly is a saxophonist, clarinettist and flutist working within the fields of contemporary improvised since 1969, when he joined the iconic People Band with whom he still performs.

The sound artist Jörg Hufschmidt (Hanover) is known for his experimental/artistic dialogue between painting, sound performance, drawing and music.

Robin Foster, Matthew Grigg & Tom Ward

Robin Foster is a musician and researcher from Bristol, UK. Most active in the fields of improvisation and noise music, his work often makes use of found objects, and is concerned with the relationship of humans to the things they surround themselves with.

Matthew Grigg is a Bristol-based musician active across free musics. Drawing on intuitive technique, close listening, signal noise & feedback, he has collaborated extensively with artists such as Tina Hitchens, Colin Webster, Charlotte Keefe & Dominic Lash.

Tom Ward is a musician, composer and computer programmer based in south-east London. His primary instrument remains the saxophone, but is these days equally likely to be heard exploring bass clarinet and flute.

John Butcher, Phil Durrant & Mark Wastell

Born near London in 1957, Phil Durrant is a multi-instrumentalist improviser/composer/sound artist who currently performs solo and group concerts.

Mark Wastell is a versatile improvising musician who has played a central role in the British improvised music scene for over a quarter of a century.

Charlotte Keeffe, N.O. Moore & Peter Cusack

N.O. Moore is an electric guitarist with a parallel interest in electronics and drum machines. As an improviser, he has played with people such as Eddie Prévost, John Butcher, Rachel Musson, John Edwards, Sue Lynch, Alan Wilkinson, Steve Noble, and Steve Beresford. He can now be heard on a number of recordings, including Nous (with Prévost and Jason Yarde) on Matchless, and The Secret Handshake with Danger (with Henry Kaiser, Binker Golding, Olie Brice, and Prévost) on 577.

Peter Cusack is a field recordist and musician with a long interest in the acoustic environment. He initiated the "Favourite Sounds Project" to discover what people find positive about everyday soundscapes and 'Sounds from Dangerous Places' that uses sonic journalism to investigate places of major environmental damage in such places as the Chernobyl exclusion zone, the Aral Sea, Central Asia and lignite mining areas in Europe.

Musical Mudlarks

The trio of Minton Bohman and Northover delve into the murky world of abstract sounds where they dig around and try to find something of worth

Kay Grant, Daniel Thompson & Ian McLachlan

Kay Grant is a vocalist and improviser now relocated from London to Bristol, once tipped by TimeOut as "one of our finest free thinking virtuosos". Using the voice as an instrumental component permeates her performance and underscores a commitment to the joy of ensemble playing. Her free approach is informed by an open-eared and open-armed path spanning styles and genres.

Daniel Thompson was born in Norfolk, England. Largely self-taught, after moving to London in 2005 Daniel embarked upon a life changing period. He studied with the guitarist John Russell for two years, spent many evenings listening to the trio of John Edwards, Tony Marsh and Evan Parker at The Vortex in East London and absorbed the free improvisation scene in and around LONDON. collectively this confirmed his musical direction.

Ian Mclachlan plays several instruments including Trombone, Euphonium, Cornamuse, Shenai, Marimba to name a few. He has played with many improvisers over the years and also a few solo gigs.

Mike Walter & Gabriel Keen

Mike Walter has a substantial track record as an improvising musician, playing tenor and soprano saxophones and synthesizer with bands such as Grassy Noel & APE, One King Poets and countless others, especially a long-standing duo with much-missed Lol Coxhill, with whom he recorded the original MOUTH CD in 1999.

Gabriel Keen studied at Dartington College of Arts and London College of Music. He won second prize in the 5th British Contemporary Piano Competition, and has recently recorded works by contemporary composer Brian Inglis for CD release.

Paul Pignon & Blanca Regina

Blanca Regina is an interdisciplinary artist, tutor, and independent curator who works with spontaneous composition systems creating multimedia landscapes using voice, objects, electronics, and visuals. She is also looking at book arts, immersive media, and design. She has produced three albums with Beresford, mixed and mastered by Dave Hunt in London, ‘What Blue’ (2020) Duets with Steve Beresford; "Duets with Blanca Regina, Spontaneous Music" featuring duets with Leafcutter John, Jack Goldstein, John Butcher, Benedict Taylor, Matthias Kispert, Aneek Thapar, Steve Beresford, Sharon Gal, and Hyelim Kim; "Art of Improvisers" (2017) a collection album with several artists concentrating in women improvisers. With longtime collaborator and artist Leafcutter John capturing their live performances in 2017 they created "Miga" a limited edition Pendrive and digital release. Other collaborations include performances with Laetitia Sadier & Marie Merlet (ISIDORA) Matthias Kispert, DFuse, Peter Cusack, Matt Black, Wade Matthews, Terry Day, Adriana Camacho, and David Toop.

Martin Hackett & Keisuke Matsui

Martin Hackett is a member of Oxford Improvisers and the Muzzix collective in Lille, France. He has been playing improvised music of one sort or another for as long as he can remember, for the past thirty years largely devoted to an obsessive exploration of the Korg MS10 synthesiser.

Keisuke Matsui was born in Kyoto, Japan and now lives and works in London, he performs on electric guitar, cello, electronics, objects on albums with other central figures in the British experimental music scene. He plays regularly with the London Improvisers Orchestra, Eddie Prévost’s Workshop group and collaborates with many players on the London improvisation scene.

Born near London in 1957, Phil Durrant is a multi-instrumentalist improviser/composer/sound artist who currently performs solo and group concerts.

London based saxophonist Colin Webster is quickly establishing himself on the European avant garde scene. Collaborating with some of the key figures in improvised and experimental music, Webster is known for working from extreme sonic palettes – from minimal to maximal, constantly pushing boundaries.
