Julia Brüssel is a London-based violinist, composer, and home producer originally from Cologne, Germany. She began her musical journey studying classical violin at an early age but soon developed a passion for improvisation. Later, she pursued jazz violin studies in her hometown, where her exposure to a wide range of genres—from various cultures—further shaped her eclectic musical style. Today, she is known for her work across diverse music scenes, particularly in experimental music, avant-garde, electronic music, jazz, high-life, and acoustic pop.

Active in London’s experimental improv scene, she performs both as a soloist and in collaboration with international artists. In her solo performances, she explores the full spectrum of sound from the acoustic violin, often incorporating live electronics to blend the instrument’s natural tones with electronic extensions, creating unique soundscapes. She is also a founding member of the bands Hilde and Bon Yi Read, and regularly performs at international music festivals.
