Gwendolyn Kassenaar

Award winning visual artist Gwendolyn Kassenaar (b.1973 Amsterdam) works across painting, drawing and performance. A Chelsea College of Art graduate, she investigates the intersection of sound, body and spirituality.

Gwendolyn creates live improvised art on stage with musicians and dancers, aided by her synaesthesia. She performed at renowned venues including Cafe Oto, Hundred Years Gallery and SOAS University and collaborates with highly regarded musicians including Orphy Robinson MBE, Maggie Nicols, Beibei Wang and Hyelim Kim.

She made her public art debut with live painted mural Dance to Ecstacy in Shoreditch, London (2021) and conceived innovative performance A Trajectory to Unsuffocation for the Bloomsbury Festival (2022).

Her art is exhibited widely, owned throughout Europe and featured in iconic magazine the Wire and on Soho Radio. She co-founded the Noisy Women and won the prestigious Serpentine Gallery Support Structures award in 2024.
