Kate Ryder

Pianist and improviser Kate Ryder performs inside, outside (and sometimes under) the piano and on unusual keyboards both great and small. She specialises in prepared piano and extended techniques, collaborating with composers, commissioning new repertoire, performing, recording and giving workshops on these unique instruments. She is a lecturer in performance and composition at Middlesex university.

As an improviser, she works in a variety of contexts, and with a range of artists including Nguyen Than Thuy (Dan Tranh) Alice Eldridge (Feedback Cello), Roger Redgate (electric violin &Fx). Recent collaborations include artist, photographer and violinist Tansy Spinks, and dancer and theatre practitioner Robert Vesty for New Pathways Festival @ Middlesex University.
