Clive Bell
Clive Bell is a musician and composer specialising in East Asian musics.
He studied the shakuhachi (Japanese flute) in Tokyo, and the khène (mouthorgan) in Laos and Thailand. His solo album, Asakusa Follies, is on Cusp Editions.
Clive’s collaborators include Jah Wobble, Sylvia Hallett, Sidsel Endresen, Jaki Liebezeit, David Sylvian, Kazuko Hohki, Complicite and Karl Jenkins. His flutes were recently featured on the hit video game Ghost Of Tsushima. The album Betamax vs Clive Bell was recorded for Byrd Out with his son Maxwell Hallett (The Comet Is Coming), with sleeve art by Raimund Wong. Based in Tottenham, London, Clive writes regularly for the music monthly The Wire.
